Winter boots POLAR WOLF GTX

POLAR WOLF GTX is made for long periods of movement in environments where severe cold is combined with mechanically demanding terrain. Insulation alone is not enough – the boot also has to deal with water, rocks, frozen snow and repeated contact with rough ground.

Its thermal foundation is GORE-TEX THERMIUM™ with silica aerogel. Aerogel is one of the most effective solid thermal insulators, and aerogel technologies are also used in space applications where heat transfer must be reduced without adding unnecessary weight. In footwear, THERMIUM™ creates an ultra-thin insulating layer approximately 1.7 mm thick. The material resists compression and maintains strong insulation performance even in damp conditions.

Around the foot, a GORE-TEX membrane system protects against water entering from the outside while allowing water vapour to escape. Underfoot, a 100% wool thermal footbed adds another thermal barrier against cold coming up from the ground.

The upper is made from hydrophobic nubuck. The treatment slows water absorption, but the most distinctive feature of POLAR WOLF is the high rubber rand around the lower part of the boot. It acts as a protective barrier between the leather and the terrain. When the boot hits rock, hard snow or another obstacle, the leather itself does not take the full impact. The rand also protects the most exposed lower part of the boot in mud and wet terrain.

The THWAITO outsole is designed for very low temperatures. Its construction is intended to remain flexible and functional in freezing conditions, when ordinary rubber can harden. The outsole also allows crampons to be attached.

At 20.5 cm high and approximately 870 g per boot in size 42, this is a full winter boot for long periods outdoors. POLAR WOLF GTX is suited to winter duty, outdoor work, hunting and extended movement in snow and demanding terrain.

This model is designed for extremely cold conditions down to around −50 °C.
